We are proud to share the article published in the latest issue of Economia Veronese of March 2025, the monthly magazine of Confimi Apindustria Verona, which describes the identity and vision of our Consortium.

From the environmental recovery of quarries, to collaborations with the University of Padua for the development of new sustainable processes, to the promotion of the culture of natural stone: the story of a path that for over forty years has united companies, territory and innovation.

Consorzio Marmisti Valpantena: the excellence of veronese marble recognised throughout the world

The desire to grow and develop together with the territory is what has driven the Consorzio Marmisti Valpatena for over forty years. Located in the marble district of Verona, the beating heart that gives vitality to the architectural and design sector worldwide, the Consortium was established in 1984 with the aim of enhancing the companies in the area and promoting Verona marble worldwide. Today it brings together about 40 companies specialising in the processing of marble, granite, travertine and agglomerates; realities that combine manual skill and craftsmanship with the use of technologically advanced machinery. An ecosystem that also invests in the training of young people as new highly qualified professionals, guaranteeing continuity and innovation in the sector.

A concrete commitment to environmental sustainability

The vision of the Consorzio Marmisti Valpantena is to make the places where companies are located sustainable for their families. This is why, for over fifteen years, it has been carrying out an ambitious environmental restoration project, transforming a limestone quarry into a storage site for processing sludge. Through careful reclamation of the land and subsequent reforestation, waste from the industrial sector becomes an opportunity, in keeping with the circular economy, and finds a new raison d'être in restoring the quarries.

The Consortium's research path towards a sustainable future has continued in recent years thanks to the support of institutions and the close and fruitful collaboration with the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Padua. This synergy has implemented a recovery process capable of extracting elements from processing waste to be reintroduced into the market. It is estimated that, thanks to these innovations, most of the silt can be reused, leaving only a small part to be disposed of, thus reducing the environmental impact and ensuring increasing economic sustainability. The Consortium's approach also makes it a key player in an evolving regulatory environment. With the introduction of the concept of secondary raw material (end-of-waste), recovered materials can be reintroduced into production cycles, minimising environmental impact and turning waste into a resource.

A network of companies enhancing the value of Made in Italy in the world

In order to remain competitive, an industrial district needs to build a strong network of relations with the players involved. For more than forty years, the Consorzio Marmisti Valpantena has developed a network of enterprises whose aim is to enhance the territory and the stone district realities connected to it. The supply chain is complete and starts from the quarrying of the block, through processing and cutting into slabs, to the finished product marketed worldwide. Each company in this group has its own identity, a specialisation that allows it to offer customised solutions to architects and designers, proudly carrying forward the Made in Italy label.

To date, the Valpantena stone sector boasts exports that account for 90 per cent of turnover, with a constantly growing demand from international operators.

Spreading the culture of natural stone

Another mission of the Consortium is to disseminate the culture of natural stone. In the world of architecture and interior design, the choice of materials plays a crucial role in the realisation of lasting, quality projects. Natural stone, with its elegance, resistance and uniqueness, represents one of the most valuable solutions that last over time and reflect a sense of authenticity and beauty. However, despite its intrinsic qualities, there is still much uncertainty and confusion about its application and transformation processes that make it suitable for different types of use. Therefore, the Consortium is actively committed to disseminating the culture of stone through communication and training activities on its website, blog and social networks, in order to help professionals and end customers make informed choices. The message is clear: there is the perfect stone for every project.

Excellence that looks to the future

The Consorzio Marmisti Valpantena is part of the Verona Stone District, a broader organisation that stands out internationally and represents all companies in the stone sector in the Verona and Vicenza area. It also maintains close cooperation with organisations, associations and institutes such as the Marble School of Sant'Ambrogio in Valpolicella.

Forty years of experience, a strong spirit of innovation and a constant commitment to sustainability make the Consortium a point of reference for the sector, projecting it towards a future in which natural stone will continue to be synonymous with quality, beauty and value.
